| Member Mailing: Claim Payment Impact to Newly Medicare-Eligible Members
May 21, 2008
Beginning immediately, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon will mail the following letter to our subscribers if they, or a dependent on their policy, is reaching age 65 and part of an employer group with fewer than 20 enrolled employees. A copy of the letter will also be mailed to the Group Administrator.
The letter we send will encourage members to consider enrollment in Part B when they are first eligible to avoid higher out-of-pocket expense. We are concerned that if an individual is covered by a small group employer (with fewer than 20 employees), Medicare will become the primary plan at age 65. Regence benefits will coordinate with Medicare as if that person had both Medicare Parts A and B; therefore, Regence will pay benefits assuming that Medicare Part B was elected.
We’ve included a copy of the letter we will send below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Regence Sales Team.
