2009 Clark County Rate and Contract Renewals

Beginning January 28, we will be sending letters to our Clark County members informing them that their Individual and Family rates will be increasing, effective March 2009.

Medical costs for this pool have continued to rise over the past year despite our hopes for improvement. As a result, we must raise our rates again this year. We understand this affects you and the members we mutually serve.

For most members, the rate adjustment will range from 2 to 35%, with an average base rate increase of 27%. The member's adjustment is based on their plan, deductible level and age. As you know, age band adjustments have been moved to coincide with any annual rate adjustment. As a result, some of your clients may experience rate increases higher than the range above. We have enclosed a revised rate sheet for your reference. We will not be contacting members via direct outreach this year.

We know your clients will look to you for advice and options. Regence Individual plans still provide choices for your clients. We will continue to offer low out-of-pocket maximums, the security of BlueCard© for out-of-area services and member access to online support through myregence.com.

In the longer term, Regence is actively working on a new product portfolio that addresses a sustainable solution that provides affordability and coverage options for the Individual market. Look for more information later this year. In the meantime, we ask for your continued support in meeting the needs of our mutual clients.
