Changes
We’ll send letters to Oregon Medical Insurance Pool (OMIP) members regarding benefit and rate changes for 2012.
*Please note that OMIP’s $500 deductible plan will no longer be available to new applicants as of Jan. 1, 2012. If members are currently enrolled in this plan, they may remain on this plan or select an alternative during Open Enrollment.
Rate changes
As of 2012 the premiums across the four OMIP medical plans will increase an average of 2.75%; they’ll increase an average of 8.6% for the two Portability plans. Federal Medical Insurance Pool (FMIP) rates will have an average increase of 5.6% for plan 500 & 5.9% for plan 750.
Open Enrollment
Please note that Open Enrollment is Dec. 1 through Dec. 31. Members who don’t want to change plans don’t need to do anything.
However, any members who decide to switch to a different OMIP/FMIP plan for the 2012 benefit year must do so during Open Enrollment.
OMIP
- An OMIP member who’s currently enrolled in a Portability plan can select only from one of the two Portability plan options--unless they qualify for a medical plan and want to switch to one of the three OMIP medical plans. In order to do so, they must re-apply and provide proof that they’re medically eligible.
- Members who are currently receiving a FHIAP subsidy must remain on the $750 deductible Portability plan.
- An OMIP member who’s currently enrolled in a medical plan can select only from the three medical plan options.
- Members who are currently receiving a FHIAP subsidy can select only the $750 deductible medical plan.
FMIP
- A member who’s currently enrolled in a FMIP plan can select only from the two FMIP plan options ($500 or $750 deductible plans).
Before making any plan changes, members should carefully review each plan’s out-of-pocket maximum, coinsurance requirements, deductible and premium.
2012 benefit changes:
- FMIP Plans 500 and 750 Rx out-of-pocket maximums – There will be an increase of $100 for both plans.
New materials for 2012
In addition to new member contracts, we’ll have new applications, rate sheets and member handbooks available. Please take a moment to review the updates.
New applications
We’ll continue to accept existing applications through January 2012. Effective Feb. 1, 2012, applications submitted on old forms won’t be accepted. The new printed materials will be available by the first week of December 2011.
