Category 1 Coverage: Important Note
To receive Category 1 benefits1, members must see a provider within their network, regardless of where the member lives or works. All of the Oregon Select networks are geographically centered within the Portland-metro area. While these networks can provide significant savings to employers in this area, they may not be suitable for employers with a large employee base outside the area.
1With the exception of a true emergency, in which case the member may visit any Emergency Room
Categories 2 & 3 Coverage: Groups 2-99
Regardless of which network is selected for Category 1 coverage, members enjoy broad-based Category 2 coverage through Regence’s participating network (containing 93% of all providers in Oregon). Members travelling outside Oregon but within Regence’s four-state coverage area have Category 2 coverage through our participating networks in Idaho, Utah and Washington. Subscribers travelling outside Regence’s coverage area can access national and international coverage through the BlueCard® Program (also covered at Category 2).
For Category 3, Regence pays non-participating allowed rates, with balance billing (no hold-harmless).
