BlueCard
When you're a Regence BlueCross and BlueShield member, you take your health care benefits with you — across the country and around the world.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans give you access to doctors and hospitals almost everywhere, giving you peace of mind that you'll always find the care you need.

  • Blue Advantage, DirectBlue, and Traditional K2 Plans: Your health-care benefits work the same as they do when you are at home in Oregon or Clark County, Washington. You do not need to have a referral from your doctor or health plan. Your plan identification card has a blank suitcase on it that identifies you as a BlueCard member. When you arrive at the participating Blue Plan doctor’s office or hospital, simply present this card.
  • Preferred Option One, Option One Overlay or Option One-A Overlay (PPO): Your health-care benefits work the same as they do when you are at home in Oregon or Clark County, Washington. Your plan identification card has a suitcase with a PPO inside it. When you arrive at the participating PPO doctor’s office or hospital, simply present this card.

 

How to find a BlueCard Plan doctor:
  • Call 1 (800) 810-BLUE (2583) at any time (24 hours a day, seven days a week)
  • Visit the BlueCard Doctor and Hospital finder Web site, or
  • Call our Customer Service Department for more information at 1 (800) 777-3168. Service hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  BlueCard benefits include:
  • The largest network of doctors in the United States and worldwide.
  • Convenience to arrange an appointment when you want one.
  • No need to submit a claim form if you see a participating BlueCard doctor in the United States.
If you are traveling outside the United States, you should not need to pay up front for inpatient care at BlueCard Worldwide hospitals, in most cases. However, you pay the doctor or hospital for inpatient care at non-BlueCard Worldwide hospitals, outpatient hospital care, and other medical services. Then, complete an international claim form and send it to the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center. Download a form online or call our Customer Service Department at 1 (800) 777-3168 for a claim form. Service hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
