Filing
Claims
Coding
Code claims the same way you code your other Regence
claims.
Claims submission
You should always submit
claims electronically with
other Regence claims.
You can also send paper claims to:
Regence BCBSO
P.O. Box 30805
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0805
Important Reminders
- Do not send duplicate claims.
- Do include the complete member number and alpha
prefix when you submit the claim.
- Please include the newborn’s name, if known, when submitting a claim. Including only "baby girl" or "baby boy" can delay claims processing.
- Do not add or delete any alpha/numeric
characters to or from the member number.
Claims with incorrect or missing alpha prefixes
and member numbers delay claims processing.
International claims
The claim submission process for international
Blue Plan claims is the same as domestic Blue Plan
claims. You should submit the claim directly to Regence.
Exceptions to BlueCard claims submissions
Submit claims directly to the member’s Blue Plan instead of Regence when:
- You contract with the member’s Blue Plan.
- The member card doesn’t include an alpha prefix.
- The claims are excluded from BlueCard (i.e., stand-alone dental).
- Learn more about submitting claims when you practice in bordering or shared counties.
- You submit laboratory, durable medical equipment (DME) or specialty pharmacy claims.
- The member has Federal Employee Program (FEP) coverage (please follow FEP guidelines).
- The claim is for air ambulance. Air ambulance claims should be submitted to the local Blue Plan based on the location of the provider who is submitting the claim. Although medical transport may happen across multiple Blue Plan service areas, neither the pick-up location nor the drop-off location is used to determine where the claim is filed.
When in doubt, please submit the claim to Regence.
