To meet the changing needs of our customers,
we are introducing BlueChoices, a new consumer-directed
product portfolio designed to replace our current
offerings of traditional, preferred and managed
care products. BlueChoices products include BlueEssentialsSM,
BluePreferred® and BlueClassicSM.
BlueChoices will initially be targeted to employer
groups who renew or become effective on or after
January 1, 2004. BlueChoices offers options in
benefits, deductibles and well-established provider
networks (Participating, Preferred Provider Plan
[PPP], Preferred Care and Access). The resulting
benefit-deductible-network combinations produce
a wide range of coverage and premiums. All benefit
designs encourage members to participate in decisions
concerning their health care. BlueChoices is
just the first in a generation of consumer-directed
products to be created as we continue to evaluate
the health-care environment and the needs of
our customers.
