The BlueCard Program links participating health care providers with independent Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plans (Blue Plans) across the country and around the world through a single electronic network for claims processing and reimbursement.

As a participating Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon (Regence BCBSO) physician, other health care provider or facility, you may render services to patients who are members of other Blue Plans.

Advantages for you

• The BlueCard Program allows you to submit claims for patients from other Blue Plans (domestic or international), directly to Regence BCBSO.
• You will receive your payment voucher directly from Regence BCBSO, which means you do not need to seek payment information from out-of-area Blue Plans or your patient.
• Regence BCBSO will be your single point of contact for all claims-related questions.

Advantages for Blue Plan members

• Members can access participating providers and savings--and receive the same benefits as their Blue Plan--while traveling or living in our service area.
• Members do not have to complete claim forms or pay up-front for health care services, except for out-of-pocket expenses, such as deductibles, copayments, coinsurance or non-covered services.
• Members have access to participating doctors and hospitals worldwide.

Claims and products included
BlueCard applies to all inpatient, outpatient and professional claims. This includes:

• Traditional (Participating)
• Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
• Point-of-Service (POS)
• Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)

Claims and products excluded
The following benefits are exempt from BlueCard:

• Dental claims
• Prescription medication claims
• Claims for members of the Federal Employee Program (FEP)
