Type 2- ‘Organizations’
- An organization NPI is assigned to an organization, a facility, a practice or any non-individual provider of health care.
- An organizational NPI should be secured by home health agencies, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, labs, durable medical equipment companies, group provider practices, etc.
Type 2- Multiple Providers or Incorporated Practices-each individual provider must apply for an individual NPI. Two or more providers that have incorporated into a partnership or join a practice have the option of also obtaining an organization NPI for the practice.
